European practices for dental students of Nicolae Testemitanu University

Students, resident doctors and clinical fellows from the Faculty of Stomatology of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Republic of Moldova participated in a lecture from the State of the Art Lectures series with the generic title Antibiotic resistance in the oral microbiome. The lecture was held by Professor Mohammed Al-Haroni from the Arctic University of Norway and was organized by Pavel Godoroja Dental Propaedeutics Department.
At the opening of the event, the dean of the Faculty of Stomatology, Associate Professor Oleg Solomon, emphasized that the partnership with the Arctic University of Norway was established due to the Collaboration in education and research through oral pathology and preventive dentistry project and is a promising one. Under the project, students have the opportunity to follow the best European practices in the field of stomatology, which are presented and explained directly by European specialists, as in this case by the expert of the Arctic University of Norway.
Associate Professor Diana Uncuta, Head of Pavel Godoroja Dental Propaedeutics Department, mentioned that the collaboration with the Norwegian professor started in 2017 from the moment of the implementation of the project in the three countries - the Republic of Moldova, Armenia and Belarus, which allowed initiating activities of research and studies in the field of dentistry. Countless documentation and study visits to European universities have been undertaken in order to acquire best practices in the field of medical assistance and oral health promotion.
Professor Mohammed Al-Haroni, on his second visit to the Republic of Moldova, has confirmed the beautiful relations of cooperation with the Faculty of Stomatology of our university, expressing his desire for them to evolve since all the prerequisites are in place.
The lecture from the State of the Art Lectures series with the generic title Antibiotic resistance in the oral microbiome aims to increase awareness, prevent and control infections by optimizing the use of antibiotics in dentistry.
During the same visit, the Norwegian expert also met with academician Stanislav Groppa, Vice-Rector for Research activity, and with representatives of the Research Department of Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy. The discussions focused on the major changes taking place in our university since the approval of the Strategy for strengthening the field of research and innovation for the period 2020-2030 and the establishment of the National Institute for Health and Medical Research as well as on the relevance of the carried out and ongoing research projects.
